Led the development of a rocket separation mechanism, dual parachute deployment systems, and ignition methods. Created tools to calculate line lengths, shock forces, detonation charge amounts, vent hole sizing, parachute sizing and more.
Separation Mechanism Project
Led the development of a rocket separation mechanism on my first year with McGill Rocket Team. Performed design, manufacturing, and testing of novel inflight separation mechanism using CAD, computational fluid dynamics, stress simulation, risk analysis and optimization techniques. Design significantly improved reliability of recovery system and was fully functional in flight (June 2016).
